A district built for its neighbors

Local oversight. Professional emergency care.

The district exists for one purpose: to help dependable emergency medical care reach southern Barry County when it matters most.

Voters established the South Barry County Ambulance District in 1974, during a period of major change in ambulance training, equipment, and patient-care standards. That public decision created a dedicated district focused solely on emergency medical service.

Today, the district provides local governance and public accountability for a modern EMS system operated in partnership with Mercy EMS.
